Privacy Policy
Plain language, not legal jargon. Last updated: 2 October 2026.
Short version: we collect only what we need to run programs, the shop, and the member area; we never sell your data; you can ask us to see or delete what we hold on you at any time.
Who we are
ISKCON JUJA (the Hare Krishna Community Centre, Juja) operates this website. For any question about your data, message us on WhatsApp or call .
What we collect, and why
| If you... | We collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Message us on WhatsApp | Whatever you send us, via WhatsApp itself | To reply to you |
| Post a testimonial or message board post | Your name (optional — you can post anonymously) and your message | To show it publicly, as you asked us to |
| Are given a member login by an admin | Your email, and anything you do in the member area (course progress, etc.) | To run your account and track your own progress |
| Take a course | Your progress and quiz results, saved under an anonymous guest code kept in your own browser (no name or email needed), and (if the course offers one) a certificate in your name | To track your learning and issue certificates |
| Buy something or donate | Nothing by us directly — payment details go straight to Pesapal or M-Pesa, not through our database | — |
| Sign in | A login token, saved in your own browser by our login provider (Supabase) so you stay signed in. It is removed when you sign out. | To keep you signed in |
| Join the Nectar of Instruction reading group | Your name, an optional phone number, which days you have completed, any notes or questions you write, and your quiz score. A secret code is kept in your browser so the app recognises you. | To track your reading, and so group leaders can answer your questions. Leaders can see this; other participants cannot. |
| Just browse the site | A light/dark mode preference, saved only in your own browser (never sent to us) | So the site remembers your preference next visit |
Consent
We only collect what you choose to give us at the point you give it — for example, ticking a box before posting your name on the message board, or an admin creating your member account with your knowledge. We don't collect data silently in the background.
Where it's stored
Our database is hosted by Supabase (a data processor, not a data controller — they process data on our instructions, they don't use it for their own purposes). Security rules in our database mean your private data (like your course progress) is visible only to you and our admins, never to other visitors.
We never sell your data
We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone, ever.
Messages and reminders
If we ever send you reminders about events or programs (by SMS, Telegram, or calendar invite), it's only because you asked for them when registering, and you choose the channel yourself. You can always ask us to stop.
Your rights
Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, you can ask us at any time to:
- show you what data we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your account and data
- stop sending you reminders or messages
Just message us on WhatsApp to ask. We'll respond as quickly as we can.
Children
Our programs are aimed at university students and adults. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
